I'm making this post to help traders make sure they are contacting the right buyer/seller due to the S/A made by
against
Vuse posted on a305's thread to purchase 100 divine orbs
Vuse sent a305 the copied trade message by using the "Copy Whisper" function on the trade site - the original item was called Spirit Essence Crimson Jewel
a305 requested Vuse to send him a trade browser link/URL
Vuse sent him the actual URL (EXAMPLE ->
https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Standard/QGBg3jOfw) and also a message saying his ACCOUNT name is xyz
a305 saw 1 item listed on the URL and contacted that person as the only item that showed on the URL was a 100 divine, which matched Vuse's buy request order - the only person listed at that time did not have the same ACCOUNT name of xyz and the item was completely different (was a medium cluster jewel listed 1 month ago)
a305 messages them in-game and the seller is AFK for 10 minutes. Comes back 10 minutes later and they trade for the item
a305 doesn't receive fg for the trade and accuses Vuse of scamming him - Vuse has been afk from the d2jsp forum for close to an hour while this transaction happened (no communication for over an hour)
Vuse claims they never met or traded and that the person he traded isn't even him
a305 claims that it has to be him since it was the only listing that was showing at the time he opened the URL
It is unfortunate that this happened
However, it is up to a305 to double check that it is indeed right item and the same d2jsp user he is trading with
Many red flags were noticeable
1. The ACCOUNT name did not match the one that Vuse explicitly stated
2. The CHARACTER name did not match the one Vuse originally included in the copied message from the "Copy Whisper" function
3. The listing was made a month ago (most people, at least myself, list a new item to match the price of the trade order)
4. Vuse had been AFK from d2jsp forum for close to an hour at the time of trade
5. Vuse literally had 0fg in his possession at the time of trade
With all these red flags, especially the fact that the buyer has 0fg and has also been AFK for 1 hour, should be a clear sign that a. you should not go through with the trade b. you should at least double check the buyer is available and has funds
Here's a scenario
Seller is contacted by a buyer for a purchase order of 400 divine orbs
Here is the EXAMPLE URL again ->
https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Standard/QGBg3jOfwHere is a screenshot of that URL

Now tell me, which one of these listings is the actual buyer?
Of course this is not an exact replication of what happened
Maybe there was only that 1 listing from the very beginning. Maybe there was more than 1 listing when the seller originally sent the URL
Regardless, receiving a URL doesn't 100% confirm that that is the same buyer you're trying to trade with
You should always either a. wait to receive payment first before completing the trade b. ask the buyer to confirm their character or account name
Anyways, hopes this helps
Edit:

https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=100735606&f=250Response to S/A made by me ->
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=100738207&f=250I'm involved in that I did a clean transaction with Vuse 1 hour before a305 accused him on scamming
Once a305 accused Vuse of scamming, I just replied to him saying I doubt this is true considering you're accusing Vuse when he has been afk for close to an hour
a305 said Vuse sent him a link and didn't need to come back since he wouldn't be paying for it anyways
Told a305 to take a screenshot of his local chat in case this is true
Responded to me asking if I've ever done a poe div-orb trade before
Told him yes - showed proof - directed him to S/A
Kept going off on trade thread instead of S/A which annoyed me so I got involved - he was also harassing me via PMs during the time so all the more reason for me lol
Most recent PM from a305
