drinking a 4 pack of this tonight:

Not sure the difference between a Belgian style ale and an ipa, maybe just the yeast? because it tastes just like an ipa...

I'm getting dank and a little spicy hop notes with a sickly sweet malt taste that somehow matches the hops very well.
Not sure about the Belgian yeast or how it affects taste honestly, maybe that's where some of the sweet taste is coming from like the label says.

All in all its a pretty tasty brew from a semi local brewery (in state) so I'd recommend getting a 4 pack of it this month if you can.

Generally Belgian Pale ales are less hoppy - they also would probably use a different style yeast than one used in an ipa. Another difference can be the types of hops used and how much malt character the beer has. I believe also letting the beer warm up a bit may cut back on some of the bitterness (as will aging the beer).

The different yeast strains will produce different esters, which i believe are responsible for flavors such as banana, clove, etc.

i dont usually buy craft beers as theyre expensive and i never know if im gonna like em. and i tried an ipa once and it was way too bitter for me. but the local beer store here had some on sale for two bucks each to try and move em since they werent selling so i figured for two bucks each ill pick up a few that sounded like i might like em.

first one i tried was newton brown ale from horseheads brewing. it was surprisingly good. a little bit bitter on the finish but not overly bad. idk if id pay full price for it, but im gonna go back and see if they still have a few more of em. two bucks for that id definitely pay.

Any one got one of these Growler Taps?

I have some 64 oz and 128 oz growlers, barely ever use the 128 oz ones, and frequently waste beer by opening a 64 oz growler but not finishing it the same day. So i figured it was possible to make a tap for a growler so it dosnt go bad, allowing me to just use my 128 oz growlers and not worry about finishing it the same day, then i figured some one already thought of it, so i searched the internet and came across this thing called GrowlTap.

Im thinking about buying one and i was wondering if any one has any experience with something like this?

It looks just like it has a CO2 cartridge off the back. so basically it would be a "miniature keg". You would just keep it under a couple psi to keep it carbonated and flow the beer. Ive never used one, but i dont drink out of growlers that much. personally, i wouldnt see why it wouldnt work too well. not too much that can go wrong - just maybe shitty control for psi, tiny co2 tank thats hard to refill, cap leaks, or it breaks down due to shitty manufacturing. Also another issue is how much pressure a growler can handle.

another possibility is to grab a few 32's

looks like it has a release valve for 9 psi, the guy who made this found that most growlers fail around 112 psi

the co2 is a 12 or 16 oz cartride you replace that supposed to last 5-10 growlers, for releasing the co2 you just press a button for a second or so depending on how empty it is.

looks like its just down to cleaning it and how well its manufactured

guess ill just buy

For sanitizing, starsan should do the trick. Run it through the line for a little bit. Like 15$ for a bottle that should last u a long time

My friend just got back from vacation, and he brought back a bunch of beer I wanted to try. First beer I tried was jai alai from cigar city brewing. One of the best ipas I have ever tried easily. It's more of a sweeter ipa and was so smooth. I feel I could drink these all day, and it's out of a can! Next was some Westbrook gose. There is a little hype about this beer but I was not the biggest fan of it. Too salty for me..
Next we had bible belt imperial stout. This was a great stout, not very sweet but you can definitely taste some chili's and chocolate.
the last one we had last night was evil twin imperial glazed doughnut break. This was another solid beer. Kind of reminds me of their biscotti break, but a little sweeter. Definitely had an awesome lineup of beers last night,  and still a few more to try!

Westbrook is from SC. Just heard about them. If I am correct. But I'm in NC and we have plenty of breweries to choose from.

Actually went to fullsteam where they filmed an episode of brew dogs.

E. Just read the above posts. Looks badass. Normally finish the growler that day due to me worried about it going bad.
That's a game changer. If it's cheap def worth it. Let us know how it goes.

Got the GrowlTap today, really like it so far. everything hooked up just like it should, no problems with anything, all in all it seems well put together. with it being carbed up you get a nice head on your glasses that can be difficult to get pouring straight from the growler. it pours such a nice glass that before I had realized I had almost drank the entire growler, though Free Will's Big Berliner funky sour wheat beer is pretty good too. fortunately I stopped myself before it was all gone so I could still test how well it stored it overnight.

only problem I see so far is, its easiest to hook the nozzle on the cap when your not using it, but it might be alittle tight in peoples fridges. I cant hook the nozzle on the cap and have it in my fridge and I don't like it just hanging down. im thinking If I loop a hair tie through the growler handle I can hang the nozzle on the hair tie to resolve that issue.
