take two with this beer.... this time out of the bottle instead of a glass.
i'm liking it a lot more now.  Tbh I don't care for the smell of it, the bourbon smell is too strong.
Out of the bottle there are more tastes than just the bourbon, I'm getting more vanilla than bourbon taste, there's something else but I think I need a second to decide what it is ;)
Idk if it makes a difference but I've been eating a few slices of a nice Vermont yellow cheddar with it, I'm liking the pairing.

Earlier I had one of these:
http://www.nightclub.com/files/ncb/nodes/2010/2127/Innis-Gunn.jpg

I'm a big fan of Scottish ales, I had a good one (wee heavy) and since I've been seeking out more.
This is nice, very drinkable, I'd recommend it to someone who drinks bmc's but is wanting to try more craft beers.
It has a nice woody smell, and that not surprisingly translates into an oaky taste.
However, aside from the oaky taste I'm finding this beer lacking.  I honestly thought it tasted closer to a domestic lager than a Scottish ale.
It felt like it was missing the malty or carmely sweet taste that I associate with Scottish ales, though it definitely had no hops to taste of.
It was a good drinkable beer, but I won't buy it again, there are better Scottish ales to be had.

my ex gf's favorite beer was bell's two hearted ale, so I used to drink a lot of it.
I'm not a fan of really hoppy tasting beers but as far as hopped up beers go I liked it more than others.
I need to try more from Bell's, I'm jealous of you!

second taste of innis and gunn.
I think I might have misjudged it earlier, possibly cuz I was drinking it while playing a video game -_-
it does smell like a domestic lager though, which is definitely not appealing.
HOWEVER, I'm now tasting a lot more complexity to it, especially as it warms up.
I'm tasting a lot more sweet notes, but i'm not an experienced beer drinker to be able to tell all what they are lol.
it kinda reminds me of a good white ale where there's a lot of different flavors but its very drinkable, and very refreshing.

I think I actually would buy this again, however if i'm in the mood for something that tastes like a Scottish ale, well I think I would choose something else then.

drinkin one of these right now.... not with any food, I had dinner like 2 hours ago.

Its good but I don't think it was worth the price.
You can definitely tell that it was aged in bourbon barrels, I'm actually finding that taste to be a little overpowering, more than I expected.

I gave my roommate (his beer of choice is natty LOL) a double shotglass worth and he claimed it was good but his face had a look of disgust after drinking it

Dragon's Milk definitely has some very strong bourbon notes in it. I am a huge bourbon fan and even for me, it's a slow sipper of a beer. I'd like to get my hands on some of their bourbon that they age in the Dragon's Milk barrels after they've been used. Seems interesting.
I saw in your later post that you tried it with some cheddar. I love pairing cheese and beer together. My wife and I had a party a few weeks ago and served a ton of cool beer and cheese to all of our fellow beer and food geek friends.
One of my personal favorites was Lakewood's Temptress (Imperial Milk Stout aged in Bourbon barrels) with a raw cow's milk brie from Brazos Valley Cheese. They were both incredible and even better together.

Nice post, I enjoyed it. Makes me jealous of other people's selections! Happy early St. Patty's day!

Kuhnhenn Breakfast of champions beers were amazing.
they had:
-OJ Wit
-Lucky Charms
-Cocoa Puffs Stout
-Wild Blueberry Pancake Ale
-Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch
-Cinnamon Toast Crunch
-Apple Jacks
-Cookie Crisp

my favorite of the bunch was the chocolate peanut butter crunch, and the OJ wit was suprisingly very good as well. They gave out a free breakfast buffet in the morning too which was awesome.
On sunday, they had a limited 6 pack release, with 3 bottles of their Michigan Mud, and 3 bottles of a 2 year irish whiskey barrel aged american imperial stout 12.9% for $35 each, limit 1 per person.
I was lucky enough to grab one, but they had 160 to sell and they were gone within an hour. I have not tried the imperial stout yet, but am very excited. Plus i've never spent this much on one
6 pack in my life!

So for the last week I've just been drinking Founder's Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale non stop, almost finished w/ 3rd six pack.

This beer is AMAZING... nothing else to say, but I will anyways.
If you read my posts here I'm sure you can tell I like sweeter less hoppy beers, I seem to be drawn towards Scottish and Irish Ales, and have definitely been seeking them out to try first as I see them.
Well I saw this beer at the Kroger I usually do grocery shopping at which was suprising, but VERY lucky.

Its a scotch ale, so its a more hoppy than a Scottish ale.
It has a nice kinda sweet smell, I pick up toffee and licorice but its very complex and appealing to me. The small bit of head is also tasty while it lasts.
This is a stronger beer, 8.5% abv but you won't notice it.
Its pretty hoppy (50 ibu's I believe) and you can taste that, but the hops aren't overpower so its just more of a complement to the other tastes.
There's a lot of complexity to the flavor besides the hops taste, all kinds of sweet notes like licorice, toffee, vanilla, even fruity.
also a bit roasty and malty, and just a hint of bitterness after you've swallowed it that demands another sip, and another, and another :)

I feel like this is a beer I could recommend to anyone honestly, be he an experienced craft beer drinker, or just a friend who usually drinks bmc's and is looking for a good beer.
Its a flavor profile appeals to just about anyone's tastes imo, and especially mine.
Go drink this if you haven't tried it!
I'm gonna be looking for all the other beers I can find by Founder's and drinking them next I think.

That beer is awesome. Have you ever tried Dragonmead Final Absolution? It is definitely your type of beer and it is amazing.

Wow! Where to begin. I'm in Ohio and blesses with some amazing breweries close by. Indiana, PA and tsun has great breweries.

*college sports= Michigan sucks (Go Buckeyes) but I admit some great beer comes from that state up North.

Op mentioned Southern Tier - Have you tried their Pumking in the fall?

(I have to go back through every page and read more closely and get caught up)

Founders KBS was released, stores will have it soon! hopefully I can actually get a bottle of it this year!
The liquor store by me, the one that gets all the special beers, has it on saturday at 9 am, limit 1 per person. I tried last year to get one but they were sold out within 2 minutes of opening... and there was like 200 bottles.

Some pretty awesome-sounding beer suggestions in here. I hate beer in general. I have a sweet tooth, so I tend to choose drinks such as Long Island Iced Tea and Whiskey with or without soda. I just don't like the strong, bitter taste of beer.

Heard so many amazing things about it.

good chance you are drinking beers to cold, hops taste especially bitter but get sweeter as they warm up.
but if its still to bitter for you there are so many beer flavors, im sure there's a style out there you'd dig
