i think i'm missing something in my seasoning while i'm making dinner
i use oregano, ginger and garlic, all powdered right now
anything else i should add so that it settles well? always feel a tad bloated later on
dinner these days consists of sweet potatoes, mushroom eggwhite omlettes, grilled chicken and microwaved frozen veggies
The bloated thing is more likely a symptom of the quantity of food you're eating then what you are eating.
~steam the veggies instead of zapping, or if you zap minimally defrost.
Maple syrup goes great with sweet potato (a little goes a long way) , also if your mashing, as crazy as it sounds, banana works awesome in that dish. Curry is nice on chicken, eggs and sweet potato for a change of pace. Nutmeg also in small amounts adds a good taste to sweet potato.
powdered garlic is evil, at a minimum if your not using fresh cloves , pick up a good sized jar of minced garlic. It's not nearly as harsh as the powdered stuff and adds texture and a fuller flavor.
Spices are best fresh, but I'm sure your know that. Also butter is the lubricant of food, love it.
All these are inexpensive , Old Bay, Mrs Dash, Tony's creole seasoning, Cavender's Greek seasoning, Mongolian Fire oil and sherry (not cooking sherry, the real stuff that isnt salted) all deserve a spot on the spice rack, all of those are pretty darn good on poultry and eggs, most meats and some veggies.
want to funk up the flavors or get some food ideas?
check this guy out, been loving his stuff!
