oil is the only option to "right the ship". its a massive country, so to go beyond feeding the poor you need to export. they only have oil in that sense and vodka that's fallen out of fashion. they can farm enough to feed the people, barely, and they can produce enough products. but for the most part they are on an island with some Chinese imports. and they have to massively spend on defense with a smaller GDP and lower tax rate than us. I mean just think on it, when was the last time you heard "oh this is great its made in Russia"? Caviar and vodka, that's it. Since the days of the fall of the USSR Russia has been on hte brink of economic collapse which will result in the dissolution of the state further just like in the case of USSR. The curtain will break off further.
Russia does make a lot of stuff just not for export action, but yeah cavier vodka and few other things like leather and expansive coats. Russia used to have a lot of different factories and made a lot of good stuff for export back in USSR, but then china basicly took over, its much cheaper for Russia to export stuff from china and India, but you have to realize that intire world is doing it now, not just Russia. USA lives of china, 99% of the cloth you find in stores is exported from other counries. USA isn't exactly known for produsing anything good, outside of weapons, fast food restaurants and process foods, like snickers. If you gonna say US makes great brands like nikes puma and adidas, just read the label when you buy it next time, it will say made it china
