My fiance just traded in her 2014 civic ex for a 2017 ex hatchback........it's night and day between the cars and i'm actually quite impressed with the pickup. They managed to increase MPG and increase hp by 40 with the turbo 1.5L. Still a civic, but they did a swell job for a commuter car.
I'm not one to sink a ton of money into cars. It's not a good investment in my eyes. All I did was tune, header, CBE, drop in filter, remote start, summer tires/wheels and blizzaks/stockers for winter. Well i guess that was a good chunk of money, but I wouldn't put anything on that would jeopardize my ability to go to work like going FI.
My second choice was in fact a 370z, but it was 3k more expensive for a base model. I didn't like the interior, and the overall aesthetic design of the brz appealed to me more.
With my new business venture, I haul 5500 Ram chassis (cab and no bed, just frame) out of my local BNSF railyard, and for like a month and a half they were stockpiling the new Type R Civics on the lot for release. While most people were shitting their pants looking at pictures online, I got to walk between rows and rows and rows and ROWS of them.
I tried to get my dispatcher to give me load of them when they started pulling them off the lot early last week, but he said he couldn't because Honda requested that only drivers that have worked for MCC for 2+ years take them and I've only just bought my truck in January

Honda's making moves, for sure. The Type R is the apex of FWD racing, no doubt.
And that's actually decently modified, imo. What are you guessing at the wheels?
And good choice. BRZ > Z34.
I absolutely hate the Z33/Z34. They're not Z cars at all, they in almost no way embody the class and culture of the Z car.
Nissan went for the bottom dollar, so they could sell as many as they could.
I absolutely HATE that they branded those cars Zs.
Everything about Zs has always been done in-house. whether done by Datsun back in the day or Nissan more recently.
The VQ is co-designed by Renault, I forget which trans they use, but it's not a Nissan despite it just being the same trans I have in my car with a 2nd overdrive gear, there's no bells and whistles that Datsun/Nissan has always experimented with in the Z cars (HICAS, side mounted intercoolers, factory air intake routed to the nose of the car, just unique cool features)
The base model Z33/34 has an open diff, the interior is just cheap.
You were much better off with the BRZ.
And I different class of drivers own BRZ/FRS'
Most FRS' I see that are modified, are tastefully done.
80% of Z33/34s I see are fuckin riced out these days

Hell even the factory Nismo Z34 looks riced as FUCK, because Nissan knows who that car markets to.
