I have a general idea of what the netbook is for, but I have no idea how they're used. Shed some light?

Yep. The laptop is for connecting to the megasquort ecu (will be mounted in my glove box)

The program is called megatune. And thats how i set all of my engine parameters, and tune the car.

Going to be fuuuun. But Im definitely jealous of you guys who can just drive your car to a dealer and wait 30 minutes for a "tune".

No plug and play for this car.

Im so glad that megasquirt exists... it opens tons of possibilities for tuning other than spending thousands on a name brand stand alone system like Big Stuff 3, etc.

^^ Agreed 100%

UPDATE:

Nothing crazy cool, but I unbolted my downpipe and welded the wideband O2 sensor bung roughly 2 1/4 feet from the turbo.

Full of bung

And I still have to calibrate my wideband so I wont screw it into the exhaust until I do so, but I just did this to show how it fits.

The slight angle routes the wires right along the transmission tunnel and over the transmission that will lead to the glove box on the passenger side, where the ECU will be mouted.

Ugh, the weekend......Looks like no parts til next week.

More to come...

ah, so thats what the usb adapter is for... So... what if the computer shuts down or runs out of battery while you're driving?

The computer doesnt remain on. Once I am ready to test my tune, I burn it to the ecu hard drive (ecu will be hidden in the glove box.), computer goes back under the seat, turned off, unless I want to keep the computer plugged in to datalog my wideband readings for future reference.

but last Spring I installed a 12v outlet in the car, so even if I wanted the computer to remain on, I could just charge it along with my phone when I cruise around.

Dell 910 Mini laptop arrived. So far so good, as this is my first successful post with the lil guy. Real happy with the quality considering its refurbished

Took the liberty of finding an appropriate wallpaper. I think this will suffice :)

Hopefully my floor boards are strong enough........

Don't fry your piston rings sir. You've done way too much work for that.
