Yeah, they'd look millions of times better in black though. But I need a running car before I justify that purely aesthetic purchase.

Mechanical things left to do:

-Purchase and install Greddy RZ Blow off valve
-Install oil cooler (ordered, but waiting on a back ordered thermostatic valve)
-Finish up my thermostat housing (bolt it in place with new gaskets and a 160 degree thermostat)

Megasquirt stuff left to do:

-Purchase MSII V3.57/relay board/stim board/ gm sensors
-LC-1 Wideband install
-Make a wiring harness to power the relay board.

A bit of stuff...but man the list is getting shorter!

Much shorter... Actually the more I look at those couplers, the more they look like 3m painter's tape to me

Oil cooler arrived.

Boy was getting this thing installed a treat.......I'll just leave it at that.

What's your plan later on down the road?

I feel like getting rid of the fittings soon just to make the engin*** to look clean.

You mean the blue couplers? yeah, I agree 100%. I priced out black replacements at roughly 100 bucks. I'm tempted on my next order to bite the bullet...

But, there are 2 large-ish purchases left, then everything else is like 20 bucks a piece, but I need a multitude of the 20 dollar parts. Like GM sensors, random wiring, relays, etc....

The last 2 big purchases are

-Greddy RZ blow off valve (ordering from Greddy, not risking buying from anyone) $275

-Megasquirt II V3.57 (just the assembled ecu) $ 444

Then everything else is under $150 a piece. So I can accumulate that quickly. It's just dropping few hundreds of dollars each week gets costly quick. haha

My plan to get it running is: wire megasquirt starting in with the motor; Setting everything up, so all I have to do is buy the ECU at the end and plug it in, then fire it. They make a "stimulator" board that you plug in and can test the system before you plug in the ECU, I'm going to spend the 80 dollars and get that. I best be safe.

That's the immediate plan at least. But I will need to address my rear end situation (heh) at some point as well. My stock rear is BEAT, I'm trying to source a r200 clsd, but getting that bolted into the car with the proper shafts, mounts, and stubs, etc... will run me another 1500 bucks or so most likely. So I am going to keep my options open, and nurse the leaky rear (haha) along in the meantime.

And if for some miracle it does fire up, I intend on driving the car on 6 pounds of boost until I tune the bajesus out of it, which depending on how much I like the car, may be a while. I know I thought the lower compression, 3 speed automatic, heavier 280zx, that some of this stuff came off of, was a blast to drive at stock boost (6.5psi).

I'm excited to see the prospects of a free flowing, higher compression fresh version, in a 2200 pound car.

I just hope nothing bad happens between then and now. Fingers crossed :D

Then I can start thinking about suspension. My favorite!

Been real busy working to put away the remaining dollars in order to get the car running again.

Today my Wideband O2 sensor came.

Innovate LC-1

I'll throw the gauge in the a pillar pod and take some more pictures once I head out to the garage.

Along with welding the bung to my downpipe...I'll probably have to drop the exhaust again for that, but meh, not like I haven't done THAT a million billion times before, when making it...

Also, I'm picking up a Mini laptop, for tuning, as well as a few more odds and ends.

Slowly truckin' along....

haha thanks. Yeah, the car has come pretty far from the way beginning, back when it was carbureted. I still love looking at the first pictures I took of the car, when it was blue, and gutted. To now.

And yet it still has so far to go. B)

UPDATE:

Wideband O2 sensor

Also opted for the digital gauge, blacked out when not powered, blue LED when on.

And currently, as I acquire the last remaining parts I need, I am labeling all of my wires, and figuring out the cleanest route when I wire the engine.

I still need to take my downpipe off one more time, now that I have measured for clearance, and weld the wideband O2 bung roughly 2.5 feet from the turbo, near the end of the downpipe. Which I have determined to be the best spot for it.

That will most likely happen tomorrow night.

Ordered and on the way:

GM intake air temp sensor with pigtail
GM CLT temp sensor with pigtail
Dell Inspirion 910 mini notebook (refurbished)
DB9 Tuning cable (and DB9->usb adapter)

more to come.
