I was looking at powder coating videos on the youtubes, and I came across one I think you may find interesting. Perhaps you'll get a bit of inspiration from it :)

How much powder have you used so far? Has it proved fairly economical or does the cost of powder add up quick?

I did some reading a while back and almost bought my own setup and now im thinking about it even more.

Well, since I am still a Noob, I feel I have lost more powder than I should of...well I know I have. (I guess it is possible to have 100% coverage, and not lose any powder. You can also reuse powder if you have a safe clean way to catch the extra before it becomes contaminated by dirt etc...)

But that said, the cost of said lost powder?.....MAYBE 4 bucks.

It's a lot like welding in the regard that your ground clamp (alligator clip) needs to have a REALLY good connection to the object being coated.

So I wasted some powder screwing around with the ground clamp, and not having a 100% secured ground.

The two most important/most difficult parts I've found while learning to powder coat are....

1. Object is CLEAN and properly grounded

2. Moving object to the oven, and hanging it in the oven, without losing any powder.

I'd definitely recommend it, I think you'd have a lot of fun with it.

Update:

Powder coating continues...

Last thing to do is to weld up the flanges, coat them, and I'll be good to go and clamp everything together.

Oil cooler is expected in the next week or so...

That looks damn good! Just swap out the blue for the black on the piping and it will look so much better imo.

Keep up the good work!
