Don't really know if I want a huge beautiful nice loyal dog, or a small non shedding dog.

I like German Shepherd's and have had my eyes on them for the past few weeks and very tempted to get a pure bred.

I have heard on the internet that mixed breeds actually make a better dog than not so I was thinking about getting a German Shepherd/Husky. I think they look really pretty and nice. What are your opinions on these types of mixes?

German Shepherds make great best friends.
If you get a pup, and train it right (I would suggest lessons for G.Shepards and like breads, such as huskies)
These dogs will LOVE the people they interact the most with.
Take into consideration everything. Do you have kids/wife/pets? How much time are you willing to spend daily with the dog? How much room is in your house/yard? Will you walk it alot or more of a roaming back yard dog? How much money are you willing to spend, not just on the pup but things you'll need (Food being the biggest)? and many other questions...
Try to fit your choice to YOU and your life, then you will get the most out of your dog(I know that is almost comparing a dog to a car... they are not the one and the same). Look at some sites on-line. I get most my info from experience or things I have read (mostly at an animal hospital I worked at). There are plenty of resources out there.

I can spend after school with my dog when I get home with him or her everyday.
I have a ton of room in my place. I have probably 3 acres of yard and mountains all over my house to roam around at.
I have brothers/sisters, step parents, real parents.
Probably play around with him or her a lot and let him roam also, I'd be taking him on hikes and truck rides.
I can probably spend around 50$ a month on food and vet bills for a few months if I get a job.

Socialize it when it's young with other dogs. The more socialize, the better they are around other dogs/people.

listen if you do not have a lot to spend at a vet dont get a purebred dog. period.

purebred dogs have issues a lot of times, my sister-in-law got a purebred shepherd and has spent 7000 dollars fixing the poor little girl already, Nalah is a great dog but shes a purebred shepherd and had early intestinal tract problems and hip displacia issues already, she got her fixed up, and will have a great best friend for a long time, but if you dont expect that you can pay high vet bills then you should get some sort of mixed dog.

shepherd husky collie, shepherd husky lab, something like that would be a great dog with much less issues.

i'm personally a fan of small dogs! :)

here is a picture of my old dog Taco!

best dog i have ever had! he's a pom-chi mix (Pomeranian and Chihuahua) he was my little man and he slept right next to me every night with his head on my pillow! ^_^

back in the time when i lived in Sacramento i was walking my friend Paisley's dog Wren (that i baby sat for her when she was in school)

i was walking with Wren over to my Son's house to bring him over to my place when this cute little dog ran up to me and started playing with Wren!

it was the cutest thing and although i was worried about this strange dog running up to Wren (Wren was kind of protective and would nip/attack other animals) Wren just kind of hit it off with Taco off the bat! :D

well i couldn't just leave Taco out on that busy street to potentially get hit by a car so i let him follow me into my apartment! i also had a cat named Rascal! (he was the first Rascal that i ever had) he was a Russian Blue! B)

when we all got inside my apartment, Wren and Taco were just chasing eachother all around having fun getting to know eachother but i had to put Rascal in the back room because he wasn't cool with this new dog coming over! :(

tbh Rascal was mad! :(

i went to the back room to try and console him while the dogs were playing in the living room but Rascal just hissed at me and when i tried to pet him he clawed me! :(

then i decided that it would be best to let Rascal have some alone time in the back room and make sure the dogs in the living room were alright! ^_^

Wren and Taco became instant buddies from day 1 and after about 2-3 days Rascal felt more comfortable with hanging out with them (even though i had to put my food down with Wren and Taco a few times for ganging up on Rascal) it wasn't too long before they were all buds! ^_^

i'll never forget the enjoyment i got out of seeing these 2 dogs and 1 cat just getting down and having fun with eachother! B)

i would go for a small dog! :)
