The smaller - the easier to handle
The bigger the more exercise it needs and more activation and so on

Weigh the pros and cons of each. Smaller dogs are generally easier maintenance

Depends on the breed.

My favorite breed (pug) are rather high maintenance due to their health issues.

Socialize it when it's young with other dogs. The more socialize, the better they are around other dogs/people.

Biggest, easyest way to make them like other animals

listen if you do not have a lot to spend at a vet dont get a purebred dog. period.

purebred dogs have issues a lot of times, my sister-in-law got a purebred shepherd and has spent 7000 dollars fixing the poor little girl already, Nalah is a great dog but shes a purebred shepherd and had early intestinal tract problems and hip displacia issues already, she got her fixed up, and will have a great best friend for a long time, but if you dont expect that you can pay high vet bills then you should get some sort of mixed dog.

shepherd husky collie, shepherd husky lab, something like that would be a great dog with much less issues.

This is true, purebreds i GREAT dogs, but they can be pricey and most of the time they get serious health problems. (hips and arthritis for bigger dogs normally)

Big or small dogs have they ups and downs, you could tottaly get a bigger dog with you time and space(yard/house)
A thing to remember is a rule of thumb is the smaller the dog the longer the life span. This is true with most ANIMALS not just dogs.

Unfortunately if you only have $50.00 a month to spend on all the dog's needs I would wait until I can afford more for it.

When you first get a puppy you'll need a ton of things. I probably spent around $300.00 on my puppy without vet visitations when I got her. The vet kills you too, getting all the puppy shots and examinations are around $400.00.

If it's a large breed they eat more as well, of course. So expect to pay at least $50.00 a month on the food alone. My dog's food is about $60.00 a bag, she's about 50 pounds so middle weight. The big bag of food lasts about a month and a half to two months.

Then if you want to give her extra supplements it'll be even more money. Treats, toys, beds and grooming all come into factor as well every once in a while.

I guess it may all depend on where you live. I'm near Chicago so it may be a little more expensive.

be sure to shop around, call as many vets that are close... I have a vet 2 blocks away that charges over 100$ just for an apt. another vet like 12 blocks away charges 45$
most vets won't give you an exact price (since unexpected cost may come up such as meds)

GSD's will cost you about $50 a month just for food.

Vets get expensive.

I have a Belgian Malinois, spent close to $1500 at the vet the past 4 years.

I have had a GSD before, phenomenal dogs, just make sure you start to socialize them young. DO NOT get a working line gsd, you will go out of your mind with how much energy they have, tell your breeder exactly what you want.

Adopt a dog. Saying a purebred dog is better is simply not true unless you're using said dog to perform the exact task it's lineage was bred for. I have 2 rescues and I'd defy anyone to make a plausible case why their purebreed is better unless they use it for a specific job beyond being a companion.

50 dollars per week is not going to be enough when you figure in flea/tick, heartworm, vet checkups, shots, food, etc etc...
