the neighbours dog bit him when he was running around in the garden
he ( called vegeta ) wasnt dead but didnt eat anymore because of the wounds he had

16 years is an awesome amount of time to have that best friend. impossible to replace, but anyone who cares that much should take it as a personal duty to rescue another pet as soon as your emotions will allow it.

Sorry for your loss brother, it will get better, this is why I get puppies with my old dogs so they can live on through the youngins'.... you get a sense of your old dog in the pup because they mimic the old dogs energy and actions through their impressionable youth.

RIP to your pup =[

Also this.....extremely true. It's the passage of knowledge, and it makes training a new puppy much less sterssful.

Just had to put my dog to sleep... Had him for 16 years ..

Feels like I lost a part of me

Family had to do the same to a house-cat of almost 20 years of age..... very sad.

Have had to do that twice this year, alone. There's some good advice in this thread. Take it how you will, and grieve in your own way. It will get better. May take some time, though. :(

So very sorry for your loss. The decision to put your beloved family member down is very difficult. For us, the decision regarding quality of life vs. no quality was the deciding factor.

Let time heal those wounds. Remember the wonderful years that you and your dog had together. All the very best to you.

5 years ago, we adopted a Boxer named Rocky (corny idgaf, amazing dog) brought us nothing but happiness and joy, eventually we found out he had a cancer of some sort, I was too young to understand, we had to put him down ourselves because to have a vet do it would have cost too much. I don't have any pictures of him. However, we did adopt a new pup (pit bull mixed with chupacabra is How my sister describes him) he's probably the ugliest dog I've ever seen, but Damn, he is fucking amazing (:
Here is a picture of Cage http://i.imgur.com/LEEj4uq.jpg

Anyways, I hope any future pet you come to adopt and raise brings you as much love as your previous pup :)

We've had 6 boxers in my family lifetime.

2 that ran away when i was very little.
One we had to euthanize because he bit a little girl
one that died of cancer at 5
One that got ran over when she was 2 and lived with 3 legs till she died of cancer at 14
one that had a brain tumor and we had to put him down 2 years ago at the age of 8
and now we have a white female who currently has tumors growing in her brain, i reckon shes got another 6 months to a year if everything goes right.
