I cannot afford to pay $1500-2000, I'm sorry. I don't need a show dog or anything spectacular, or in this case a K-9 verified for law enforcement. I just want a healthy dog from a good set of parents that were treated/cared for correctly. My budget is $500 max.

Then save your money and buy from a rescue.... 1500-2000 is for good bloodlines with no health issues.... $500 dog is the same as a rescue dog, the rescue may actually be healthier.

Just my 2 pennies.

And some good 2 cents. I appreciate your insight. Seems like a longer process than I thought...just gotta wait for the right opportunity and not rush it. And getting lucky wouldn't hurt either. I'd like to just find a good pup in my area from a nice family. Sure there is a risk, but that's with anything.

My first dog was a german sheperd she was the most loyal dog, really active and playful, was a really sweet dog, got her for $15 at a shelter when she was 9 months and she lived to be 15. She died about a year ago but a month ago I got a new puppy

Shes from a shelter, german sheperd mixed with a boxer, $40, shes 4 months now and the most loving playful thing.

They are easy to train and they are very smart, they are true lovers but they will also protect you and stand by your side through anything. Be sure to get a girl, girl dogs are always daddys girls
