Hey guys so last week I adopted 2 "teenage" cats who were siblings.
They have started to fight each other (not playing) and the girl started out biting me, no pressure. She hasn't pierced skin but I don't want her to continue to bite harder. I just don't like the aggression. Anyone have past experience with this?
I also have a 5 year old in the house and I'm not sure how to explain to her that cats aren't like dogs.
When I separate them and lock one in a room and leave the other one out, the one I left out becomes loving. Is this some kind of turf war?
you are most likely correct.I have had many cats in my lifetime and sad to say they are territorial and a mother will even swat its offspring when older if she gets annoyed by it. you will just have to let them get used to the new place if it is large then you shouldnt really have a problem just seperate them wihen they fight i would suggest a spray bottle as most cats do hate the water. I brought a kitten home to my older cat because i had started working more and thought bring a little one home to keep her company. She hated her at first but about after a week and a bit she came around and started to like her and this was in a small 1 bedroom apt. if neither are fixed i would recommend doing that asap
