My cat was feral when I got her, maybe a month old or less
My sister found her in a parking lot at work, took her back to the house and I was the only one the poor thing didn't growl/hiss/scratch/bite at
so now the cat's mine. raised her up, trained her pretty well, she loves me, I love her all is good.
she is the sweetest cat you could ever imagine(when it's just me), she rubs on me, kneads me, licks me to death and lays with me any time I'm home
well those are the goods

the bads:
any time someone else tries to pet her she tenses up, growls, hisses and if they pet her there's about a 75% chance they get bit or scratched (really hard, she always draws blood)
I'm the only person that can hold her
she's incredibly territorial, if she hears someone coming up the stairs she growls, if she's outside of my room she will try to fight the animals that are outside the glass door that's on the front of the house
if another cat is inside the house she will try to come up to them, but they're always defensive toward her and growl or hiss which makes her think they're wanting to fight and she'll growl/hiss etc which if we leave them alone they end up fighting and I've gotta break them up (for this reason she's locked inside my room 90% of the time. the only time she's allowed out is when I am home and outside of my room to keep the peace. if I go back into my room, she comes in and the door gets closed)

now normally this is perfectly fine because she's the only animal that I have, and I was living alone until a few months ago
well, now I'm living with my mom and my mom always wants to pet her or pick her up (like fucking seriously woman, you know you're going to get bit just leave her alone.)
she always get's sad/mad when she gets hurt which is as I've said, 75% of the time she tries to pet her
I've told her she's going to get bit or scratched if she pets her and I don't like to hurt my cat when this happens but she still tries to do it all the fucking time.
I can't move out right now, I don't have a job. as soon as I can move out, I'm fucking gone.

I don't know anything I can do. I've tried cat nip which she loves but it has no effect when someone other than me is around
I've tried contacting Jackson Galaxy but he won't fucking respond to my emails
I'm at the end of my rope, I will never get my cat de-clawed, and I can't get my mom to stop putting her hand into the fire

so now I turn to gc for help... pls don't troll, this is a serious thread

I'm sorry the post is so long, kinda just had to get all this out

some cats are just a 1 person animal, they only like or trust that 1 person. a buddy of mine did the same thing rescued a homeless cat took it in. the cat only trusts him anyone else goes near it they get a swat.unfortunately this is normal behavior for a cat only thing is just give it time to adjust to new surroundings and your mom as it is stressful for them when they change habitats. cats really not doing anything wrong its your mom who is intruding in the cats personal space she knows cat does not like it so she should stop. if she keeps on being pushy with the cat she deserves a swat tbh. iv had cats my whole life they do things on there own terms. warn people not to go near cat thats all.it will calm down and mellow out as it gets older.

My sister also has a simliar cat. She wasn't violent but hated every1 but my sister. She generally got used to living with the family( my sister used to live in an apartment but is at home while working to pay off student loans).

Basically, with time, the cat got used to everyone that was there.

Well your mother must not approach the cat. You need to let the cats approach you. I like watching our neighbors cat for a long time. I wait until they settle down, it is obvious that they aren't tense nor scared of me so I can go a little closer.

If they show any kind of hostility that means back the **** away. Find out the boundaries for this cat. Would the cat like it if your mother tries to feed the cat or give your cat some tuna? Once my mother starts cooking some meat, our cat is right there against her leg, annoying the heck out of her.

The main thing is for your mother not to approach the cat but when the cat is more comfortable it will approach her. Bribery with food also might work.

Call the guy that does my cat from hell so we can see how this plays out.

cat's known my mom for 3 years tho :/



for a while my mom had been feeding her, while she brings in food cat will hiss, she puts down the food and cat runs over to the food, once food's gone back to hissing lol



jackson galaxy, i've emailed him 4 times and he won't respond, good thought though
