a fringe candidate who was highly controversial and polarizing to begin with and whose base are conservative values voters has lots of relevations about preying on underage girls come out - is it really surprising that turnout from his base was depressed, which ultimately was the reason his opponent won? I dont think so.

in the end, I wouldnt draw too many conclusions from this result. moore was a simply a god-awful candidate.


I also dont really know if moore being elected to the senate to stir shit up over there would have been the better result for the GOP in the long run.
maybe this result is the best case for the cause of the GOP as a whole: the election was not a blowout, it was tight. they can put all the blame for this electoral disaster on moore's personality and dirty past, and they dont have to put up with him on the senate.

tax cuts should go through even with just 51 republican senators, and there most likely wont be any other really major legislation until the midterms.

My culture poison? I have often expressed my views on abortion and they aren't particularly positive.

But as I've actually looked into it I can tell you that restriction to abortions would increase coat hanger abortions by a lot... And though it hardly needs to be said - nobody is performing abortions with an egg whisk.
