"He's going to use it for more power" I would say. Which I do believe there's truth there. I also believe its far too uncontrollable for his own good to stay the course. Which is good, I think i've posted here 50 times now how he needs to go back to being an innovator and not trying to advise or run the US gov't. And I don't know if he anticipated this much backlash. I mean, he's a smart guy he must have thought it would come, but perhaps not to this extent. Likely because Trump also went beyond what everyone expected and having your face attached to that, well its not great. He's probably smart enough to know Trump went full retard and if he keeps his face attached any longer its just going to get worse.
now keep in mind im far from one of the "trump/elon are doing this all for the good of the country" type people. but lets look at it honestly, people said trump would use the whitehouse to enrich himself, and so far he's basically released a memecoin which made a few pennies and that's about it. his brand has tanked for 50% of the country, and i dont think red hat sales have exactly made him a billionaire. he'd likely have been far richer if he just never got involved in politics.
now lets look at elon, before he even got involved in politics he was the richest man on earth. and all during his rise up the world's richest ranks people have been BEGGING him to just shut up and showcase teslas. instead he took a massive PR hit buying twitter, spent 250$m on politics, dug into the most polarizing whitehouse of all time, etc. he's put his wealth in direct jeopardy, and whatever "power" he can gain in the whitehouse is severely offset by a massive loss in money. Bezos will almost certainly eclipse him in the next year, zuck too perhaps.
i think the two people who most fit that bill are Zuck and Bezos. they came crawling to the whitehouse looking for preferential treatment. Elon is just a rogue dude, he does what he wants for his own reasons and most times against advice of his people. i think the whitehouse will be a massive loss in power for Elon in the longrun.
