They knew since July but didnt say because it would be more politically effective now. Im thinking its going to backfire now

I worked as a cook back in the day. I remember the mayor came in for dinner one time. He's a Democrat and I'm a Republican. Let's say I want to damage his reputation and help my team out, I claim that while in the bathroom he slapped my ass and told me that was a great steak. Out of fear and PTSD, I didn't say anything until now (conveniently 2 months before the election).

>Get some mainstream paper to publish my story (wouldn't be hard if let's say my local Republicans own one of these papers or have a friend that will give ear, etc.)
>Guy is destroyed and spends the next two months trying to defend against bullshit
>Gullible voters believe the juicy story and he ends up losing

Disgusting that politics have reached these levels.

I think the 2012 election broke the country. Were past hope of civility now unless the democratic party destroys and rebuilds

No, the election that really broke the country was 2000. That was the point in time when it became clear that Blue America and Red America are on diverging paths, and that the country was getting polarized in increasingly rapid fashion. The country briefly rallied around the president after 9/11, but other than that, it's been a downward spiral of ever increasing polarization, hostility and violations of norms from both sides.

because of the internet

rather than neighbors and family talking shit to each other about politics once or twice a year they now had access to a lot of other people

shut in grandparents angsty teens and everything between could now all meet in one place and talk non stop shit

social media boomed with all the good and bad that comes with us all being connected but really the ability was what changed

the left vs right hatred had been there for decades before that

Not after, but facts aren't really something I expect conservatives to have a good grasp on. You get too triggered by them.
