This is a massive development. Russia was stalling this purchase order for years because it was apprehensive about how it would change the dynamics between iran and Israel. Apparently, Russia no longer has any qualms about this, and is even considering letting the iranians build them in-house.

Good for India. I'm not so sure if it's a great deal for Russia to enshrine a heavy discount for 10 years.

Urals traded at 3-5$/b discount to Brent before 2022, 20$/b discount in 2022 and seemingly Indians are buying at 3$/b.

Urals is sour so always carried a discount. Sokol and Arctic Light are sold at a premium to Indians as per the article posted.

Russians bought Nayara in 2015 and have been shipping their oil to India (Reliance and Essar) for decades now.
