The officer is supposed to freeze time and roll a d20 to see if he can shoot the pipe out of the guy's hand and reflect the bullet harmlessly into the ground

Ah yes, shoot a taser at the guy swinging a metal bar at your head, good plan that.
Is it a magic taser that always instantly incapacitates your target but never kills them?

You were military. Compare and contrast for us what you are taught about engaging with an enemy combatant in Iraq vs police engaging a civilian on a public street?

This is why American police officers are shooting in the torso, to avoid dangerous ricochets!

as if the scumbags executing citizens cared about shooting OTHER innocent bystanders. the little girl in philando castile's backseat was LUCKY not to get executed as well, and how many of the shots they fired in clark's general direction missed him?
what do you think REAL police train for? so they can't make a high percentage shot from less than 10 yards? no, ofc they HAVE to empty their magazines into some poor bastard because they hold an iphone in their hand or drive a car with a busted taillight...

well, given their short and insufficient training, i fully understand that they don't want to engage him on equal terms (even though they outnumber him and are not intoxicated).
something like a taser would have been appropriate, but if that wasn't available to them i do think it's justifiable to engage him with a gun, and not just a baton. again, you have to consider it's american police, not western european...

A guy on drugs running at you with a metal pipe.. I don't think you realize how many times tasers fail against people like that. Sometimes tasers do absolutely fuck all.

Tasers would be great for this situation.. Tbh I'd love to see them more, but they also have their own moral dilemma. ^^

typical talk when you have no clue

tasers are just another thing on the officers belt that they would need training and they havent received enough for what they already have

further there have already been plenty of cases with nutjobs withstanding the taser
not to mention winter conditions, what are you doing when people are wearing thick clothes?

a taser can be useful for a stationary situation, other than that the answer is no

you mean studies that showed how tasers are used very liberally BECAUSE they are non-lethal and it's easier than dealing with an unruly customer?
true, that has proven to be a problem - but that again comes down to bad training and lack of professionalism. in general it is a good tool if you want to stop someone without using lethal force...

You’d be the rookie cop they show in police training videos

Those bullets most likely ricocheted off the ground below clark, and prob hit the adjacent backyard fence. I doubt anyone in his vicinity was in serious danger.
