I didn't necessarily mean that the text will actually blend, like a render does with a signature, I meant that the text would flow nicer with the signature.

99% of the time they are. This tutorial was made for people with major problems with text. If you know how to incorporate patterns into the text and still have the text be good looking, then the tutorial really directed at you. The beginners will always botch up text with ugly patterns.

make a custom pattern using define pattern tool.

decent tut for noobs, but i like to use outer glow sometimes ... not always bad if you know how to incorporate it wit other effects like stroke and u can change the color of it which can be useful

I don't wanna insult you... But Really what makes you the boss of how text should be done?... every sig need different text, sizes, variances...

Did you even think to combine out glow with clipping masks? Patterns too? Beveled edges makes for godly text that looks like it is actually IN the signature...

This is like making a signature on how to make borders... It's useless

Everything can be nice, but it depends on how u use it and on what.
