in a therapy session, advices help for 10% while 90% of the time a good quality lsitening will help the client to find and develop his (or her) own coping tools, period
Pretty sure for most people, not isolating and having a great set of friends who don't make you feel stressed out IRL is best.
When you hangout online too much you deal with amplified stress levels. People online live in delusional worlds where they will try to piss you off and insult you and threaten your kids/family etcetc but irl those same people are obese wallflowers who collect dolls as hobbies.
Getting of the internet and not dwelling about all his flaws would probably make him A LOT better.
