i see the right's MO moving forward will be to just address sjws and brush off legit criticisms.

"separating children is wrong"

"reeee someone on twitter said concentration camps. REEEEEE HITLER REEEEEEE"

I think the right's MO moving forward will be to bend instead of breaking and let the left be self destructive. Roy Moore gave them a bitter taste of tea party 2.0, but today Trump is seizing the high ground on child separation and throwing the ball into the democrat's court while the left has produced a real cavalcade of violent extremism and bad optics. Just in 24 hours we've got the secret service looking at jane fonda's brother for threatening to kidnap barron, snarling socialists harassing kirstjen nielsen at a mexican restaurant and a bunch of lower profile nutters making death threats.

Provoking the extremists and ignoring the legit criticisms is a perfectly rational strategy to drive a wedge and win over the moderates. The SJWs are the best thing to happen to the republican party in 20 years
I mean, how else would we arrive at south park-esque self-parody

i don't think i've ever rolled my eyes harder than when i read that bolded headline this morning.... idiotic tweet, idiotic to take it seriously.

but as to that ad, i fucking love it. and i think most centrists see it as a blurred line between parody, hyperbole, and truth. the rollout on this issue cements the dumpsterfire reality for me. just a complete bungling.

as to the SJWs being the best thing for the GOP, i quite agree. i just wish less posters would use campaign tactics in a discussion forum as it does tend to get in the way of discussion.

those videos are manipulative. Kids cry, it's what they do

Crying for their moms and their aunts after being separated at very young ages?

and the cult videos of footage that the government controls of the "summer camps" are not manipulative?

I'm not one that compares things to nazis nor do I like that rhetoric

these videos though aren't gonna do much to combat the other videos and audio of the younger children being circulated nor are they gonna do much against the right wing pundits "womp womping" and calling them invaders in defense of the enforcement that is not in fact the democrats fault but the current administration's

to your point turning this always in the nazi stuff and comparing it to other mistreatment isn't necessary nor is always accurate

the focus should be on the current problem that can (and hopefully will) be remedied soon.

Anyone that holds up the improvement on this issue regarding treatment of the young children should be held accountable going forward on both sides.

"if you don't like the laws, change the laws" - said they, in control of the both legislatures and the executive branches.

-man who doesn't understand reading

The republican's don't by-and-large want to change the law. But if they did they'd only need to sway a small number.

Whereas the democrats, who seemingly really want to change the law, don't have any majority control. And can be vetoed indefinitely like Obama did with those empty gesture Obamacare repeals they passed for years under the opposition party.

tl;dr, the democrats have a massive uphill battle even if they want to change the law, for the GOP its simple. the democrats support this law change afterall, and would be easily swayed to at least a vanilla bill like Cruz put up.
