I built my current computer almost 10 years ago. I'd like to upgrade my old platter HDD to an SDD, but I don't have my OS discs anymore and don't want to buy a new OS if I can avoid it. (Win7 still btw) Is there a reasonably simple way to clone my current HDD to a new one? Also, if I am able to do that, can I then just hook up up my old platter HDD for storage, or would I have to wipe it clean somehow?

Clonzilla will clone it for you. As for the HDD, if you want to use it for storage, just wipe it. Or just delete the partitions and do a quick format.

Think I'm around the 200 mark this year so far.
Maybe 600 or so last year.

No issues yet but people still worried like 5$, will bankrupt em.
