Hey people,

Just bought an HP Phoenix 1120t for dirt cheap and looking for upgrade ideas. Here are the stats:

I7-3770k w/ hp water cooler

10gb ram (1333, 2x 4gb 1x 2gb)

2tb 7200rpm hdd (might be bad)

120gb Intel 320 ssd

HD 7670 1gb

600w hp psu

Here is the mobo:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03132942

At minimum I wanted to buy another set of 4gb sticks of ram for dual channel. I think 1333 is the fastest I can go on the board, though.

Also, I have a 1050ti at home but it's full size and I don't believe it will fit with the ram slots being so close. Mini card recommendations?

How crappy or good are the hp psu's?

Hp water coolers?

Worth trying to sell the 7670?

Thank you in advance :)

/e just looked up the info on the mobo, as I should have before... The mobo supports 1600 ram and 32gb.

Is it worth it to ditch this ram for 16gb of 1600?

i7 3770k is pretty good actually =) if u can upgrade to 16gb ram (1333 is fine) and put in a 1050ti u be good to go for most modern games (~60fps @1080p)

Yeah it's pretty fugly too 😆😆😆. Hard to beat the price tho.

Prob pubg, a few esports, modern AAA titles idc too much about settings (1080/60 is fine with med settings).

Yeah, I paid literally nothing so I was content if that's all I get out of it lol.

Nice! Would 1600 ram give me a decent upgrade?

I was considering buying another water cooler or even an evo 212 to replace it. Was def going to do thermal paste and maybe even delid

Cheaper to buy new case over a new gpu. I mean you say you already have a 1050ti.
Leave the ram be for now, see if you even needs more then 10gb first. If you do buy 2x 4gb and dicth the 1gb sticks.
1600 vs 1333mhz in ram is not a huge jump.
As for cooler a evo 212 may have issues in the case as well. Just buy a new case with an evga 240/280 cooler or a corsair h100i.

Unfortunately the problem is the DIMM slots are too close to the pci e slot, not the case :(. I believe and evo 212 would fit but I figured I should keep it water cooled.

I don't need more than 10, but I thought it was pretty bad to have single sticks paired with a set. I'm still learning so criticize if necessary 😆

The fan doesn't have to be 100% flush with the heat sink on the evo 212, Can also mount fan on other side as pull vs push.
I doubt it'll be a huge as an issues as u think. You only need about 2.5cm between the socket and ram slot for the heat sink.

You can have issues with mixed sticks but its not super common unless your doing oc's on the ram or high cpu oc's.
Its more like something not to do but rarely causes an issue, like unplugging a usb drive with out safely removing the devices first.
