Even though we do not know if someone ignited the big bang, it is unethical and ignorant to place your life in the service of some rules written in a book nobody knows who wrote. You do not have the right to throw your life away and out the blame for your ways on a book.
Laws are made to make life liveable for most people. And these laws are based on research and philosophy, and are under constant review. So they are mostly based on common sense, although I will agree that the law system often is bought and sold, which is a shame.
But even still, one should be realistic and out to practice what is proven to be 100% true, not blindly follow rules in a book written thousands of years ago, by someone that was probably crazy on acid or other psychedelica.
When someone choose to believe in blind faith, it is a result of severe depression, in my opinion. And I do not blame them, because we are not taught about life, economics or psychology in schools. So there's no wonder people believe in bullshit in order to make the day go round.
