Finally the Islanders are doing something to better their team.

First they hire this great guy that did wonders for them in the past as President of Hockey Operations.

And 2 weeks later he fires Garth Snow and Doug Weight. AWESOME!!

All for this guy fixing this team.

Its long overdue!

Can't be any worse. It still baffles me how Snow kept the job for so long.

I wonder if the hire of Lou and the dismissal of Snow & Weight have any thing to do with Tavares being UFA this summer.

I hope Tavares will stay. They're getting virtually a new home to make Tavares happy and Lou is trying to really keep the Owners out of the loop because even them have done a terrible job making the team work for so many years.

Snow kept the job for so long because he was that kind of Yes-man kind of thing where he would just do what the upper leadership said and never do anything to help the team do any better than mediocre. We had the one year we went decently far in the playoffs and that was it.

I'm glad were finally doing something solid and concrete with the team. It got sad for a long time there. The fanbase cannot wait to be in Belmont Park also because they didn't belong in brooklyn and everyone knew it.

stavares wont stay with bad team, he wants to contend.

Yeah I know that but he’s been with this team forever now. It’s like the Ovechkin and capital thing. Never won a Stanley cup and now he might. Never know.

Great news time to get a goalie and players that can actually play defense

aggre, i was in new york not long ago, watch islander, halak is bad.

The problem is that the new building and your goalie of the future are at least 3 years away.

Not sure if Tavares wants to wait for that. There are teams he can go to that will contend starting now.

Whether he stays or not, still a great day for the org.
