I'm actually not being fair. I'm not sure how it is in other places but almost all the Narcan used here has been donated by 3rd parties to law enforcement. Still though, just doesn't seem quiet fair but then again we don't seem to have many allergic reaction deaths around here. /shrug.
Dude. for one second consider the alternative. You want cops responding to junkies that then have to watch them die before the ambulance arrives?
Run it through a common situation. Junky passed out in a Denny's booth. Manager calls cops. Cop shows up, realizes the person is non-responsive, and a 10 min timer starts (at best) before ambulance is on the scene. So that cop then just sits and watches them die.
The reality is narcan saves lives. most people view this as some saving grace to junkies with no other positives. Cops get to save a life, and don't have to watch one end. overlooking that is fucked up, and stinks of nothing but contempt for those who are addicted to something. you want to hate junkies thats fine, but they're reality, and your hate forces cops to live out nightmare scenarios.
