pitcher filters contain activated carbon which filters (relatively) large organic molecules that stink but does nothing for small molecules that actually hurt you. if anything activated carbon filters should be incorporated into a filtration system, not used by themselves.

I use a pur faucet water filter. A benefit of the pitcher filter is that the water can sit in the fridge so will be colder than straight from the faucet.

I have a reverse osmosis setup. Well worth it
