i think there's a very real chance that he's got serious mental health issues, delusions of some kind for sure.

Nah - trust me bud. They live across the channel from me. They're all like that.

Delusions of grandeur, incomprehensible theories about why they're the best etc.

Thinking you're god's gift to mankind is as French as baguettes and boursin.... which, incidentally, is a pretty great lunch - but don't tell them that. They'll become even more insufferable if we admit their food is actually pretty tasty.

Cmon he's something else, but definitely NOT french.
Btw boursin is really a failure, try to get a real cheese instead like comté or better: Roquefort Papillon.
with red wine and so on, good bread, then you will know the true secret of life & universe...
