I just want to start a discussion about some Star Trek Physics here, like Warp Drive, etc. I am referencing to the book I read: "Star Trek Physik - Metin Tolan".
Please excuse evtl bad English, I am German and I have read the book in German.
But theoretically it is possible to use Warp drive, "Beam me up Scotty", etc. You can all do this, it just has to be invented. Let's start with Warp drive. I am not that deeply into Physics, so correct me if I'm wrong.
The Alcubierre Warp Drive uses exotic Matter. (Can someone explain how exactly that works?)
Beaming is possible, it just uses a heck lot of Energy. IN this book it says to beam a 100kg Kirk you need the Enrgy in a second, that Germany uses in a year. We can discuss other stuff here as well, I just wanted to start a discussion about this, since I haven't seen a topic like that.

possible but beyond our capabilities as a species

Can you expand a bit into why you think a warp drive is possible?

I think it’s possible on a purely theoretical level maybe only. The idea is implausible in reality if you ask me. The idea of needing inorganic matter in the first place to even think something (which already has many other flaws) pushes the button already.

Well. A hundred years ago nobody would've thought about flying to the moon. Every good developed technology seems like magic. I feel like that it will eventually become reality.

It also didn’t require the use of inorganic matter to get there. Something we still don’t understand yet is hard to be the assumed basis of a concept at this point.

If technology develops as it does now for the next 10-20 years, Data will become reality lol. I don't know if thats good or bad tho.
