Is it just me, or is this game unnecessarily dumb hard.

Since reaching act 4, there has not been a boss fight that doesn't kill me over and over - in many cases, 1 to 2 shots.

I have a level 53 marauder and am relying on the drops i've found and no matter what, my character is completely made of glass.

Probably just a bad build. Are you resists capped? Did you take plenty of life nodes in the tree?

did you follow a guide?

not everyone new to the game can make an own viable build form scratch

and not every combination of offensive / defense setup makes sense

important in general : defense > offense, especially for new players ( capped res is a must have )
-> with some more experience and better gear of course there are viable glascannon builds, but thats nothing for you now ^^

Do the lab.

Maybe I screwed up. I did go for more offense than defense. Guess its time to remake.

The real question is are your resistances capped?

Do you have a large life pool and up to level health potions.

Story bosses are a breeze once you do.

Also you may need to dodge to not get hit by their heavy hits.

In all honesty... I used Uniques/rares...
and res cap with 40% armor/evasion ect. even chaos res. with 4k HP
even in act 4 i was getting 1 or 2 shotted from bosses.

the thing is... its hard but you can tell when they are about to do damage...
your supposed to avoid it.. with curses/decoy totem/ or run away ect... aura's help.
life regen with life leech ect.

still hard to just tank.

There is a face-tank build that works if that's really your play style (watched it on youtube) very slow at killing bosses.

get more life

cap your resists

learn bosses mechanics to dodge incoming damage

read about the damage mitigation methods, via google

try to upgrade some pieces of gear using alchemies on 4L whites

use masters in yourt hideout to craft mods on your items

check different guides on google, type marauder 3.2 with your skill, read em, try to learn and improve.
