honestly this could be implemented to this forum so easy.
have the seller add a "buy it now" price and maybe another button that says "bid on this item" or something.
the buyer then sends the forumgold and it goes on "hold"
they do the trade, the buyer accepts the trade when they get the item, then the seller gets their fg.
opinions?

Good idea imo. Develop the idea a bit further and make a site suggestion? I don't think it will ever happen though, this site is nearly a decade past its prime.

I'd argue this site's design and functionality is a decade ahead

Your argument is invalid.

I never made an argument yet, I said I'd argue for it (assuming we were to engage in a debate)

Thanks I’ll look into it.
I’m not great at coding so maybe I need to ask for help

Nope not at all! I just find it a bit off-putting to see passive put downs concerning this site. Some factors include (just off the top of my head), but not limited to:

  • Speed (instant load times, all over. you don't see that on forums nowadays)
  • Functionality (Consistent layout/design for more than a decade. UX navigation is very simple)
  • Community
  • Super Fast trading system with ability to find/sort items by ft, iso, etc
  • Web Based aRPG
  • Custom IRC Chat System
  • FG System
  • Massively helped how items are traversed in Diablo 2. Made it far easier for trading (because blizzard / d2 devs never implemented something like pathofexile.com/trade)

And for people just to say "this site is nearly a decade past its prime", is extremely disingenuous I feel. Site has done a lot of good, and will probably continue to do it as long as D2 is alive. And the speed and functionality is far ahead of other forums. They are all bloated and very slow (why I mentioned the "decade ahead" part)

Hope that clears up where I'm coming from, thanks!

The reason this won't happen is cause people sometimes do not realize the value of the item at first.
They allow people to reserve the right to sell to whom ever at what ever no matter how BM it may come across.
Just like in real life without a contract people can back out of an agreement up until the transaction has occurred.
Imagine if craigslist or kijiji worked as you have outlined here, it would cause so many more issues imo.

well if the seller/buyer wants to back out at any time they can.
There is a certain trade order.
1. Seller Lists
2. Buyer instant buys. (maybe multiple people instant buy in that case it could potetially go to any of them.[although it may be BM it is possible])
3. Fg is placed on "hold" (can cancel any time.)
3. Seller Chooses Buyer, Confirms
4. Trade item
5. Buyer and Seller both confirm.
6. FG is transferred to seller.

Site has been around for nearly 20 years now, if they planned on implementing something like this they probably would have a long time ago.
There are no major changes like this needed to continue our enjoyment of the forums xD
Would be cool but definitely not needed xD
