Trumpists are the RINOs.
I often think about what the word "conservative" means in our political system, and I feel like there are three very distinct uses.
I think the most obvious is social conservatism, which I would call traditionalism. This includes a broad range from anglo identity and cultural heritage to gender roles and the nuclear family. This is very much in line with traditional Republican Party values but is all over the place with Trumpists. Even Trump's so-called "evangelical" supporters are OK with prostitution, adultery, etc so they don't really count as social conservatives anymore.
In a political sense, we also have Constitutional conservatism, and this is the one that's most interesting to me. The U.S. Constitution established a liberal republic of federated states. So to be a constitutional conservative in the United States means to be a liberal in the more original context of the term. This is something that's a proud tradition in the Republican Party, and it's something I respect about them.
And then there is a form of conservatism that is actually the antithesis of Constitutional conservatism, is right-wing collectivist (https://fee.org/resources/right-wing-collectivism/) and nationalistic in nature, and exists as a direct counter to liberal principles like free trade, freedom of association, and free migration. Included in this group are authoritarian conservatives who are into the idea of integration of church and state for the express purpose of enforcing a certain "type" of society. So this last category is more about authoritarianism than anything because it could probably be broken into two subcategories (fascists and theocrats). These people are RINOs at
least as much as any moderate.
