Is it true that volkswagen parts cost more, and that they are also more difficult to service?
Why is this, and do you own a volkswagen nonetheless?

Cost meh
To service yes ..
To change the headlight bulb on my Gti you have to take out the fixture completely and partly remove bumper ..

Simple things can be more difficult. If you arent doing it yourself can be more expensive

I own a mk4 Jetta, 2.0. I want to burn the damn thing to the ground. Never had so many electrical problems in a car before. Don't do it

I've heard they have a lot of electrical problems actually, especially the older ones.
I am an electrical engineer though, so electrical issues are a lot easier for me to diagnose/fix

The problems I’ve ran into them is that nothing is a quick fix..

To change a brake light, you have to remove the rear assembly..

Everything under the hood is plastic, so everything is super brittle.. And god forbid if you snap something..

The nice thing about them is that usually shit doesn’t go wrong with them.. We have a 2012 Passat that other than 1 electric problem where all of our dash lights came on after we first purchased it, has had no issues whatsoever.

dont really have to argue.
vw is known for over engineering. not hating on it. i own one.
just definitely could be more of a hassle at times.
