I was looking into learning how to paint. I got plenty of stuff I can practice on I've just never done it before. So I got a few questions.

1. What size air compressor should I look at? I was looking at a 30 gallon but don't know if I should go bigger.

2. What are some decent paint guns and what size tips should I get?

3. And if anyone knows of a guide I can use just for starting I'll greatly appreciate it!

Thank you guys!

1- I would try to stay with a 60 gallon + tank and a decent sized motor. (IR screw compressors are worth every penny if you can dish out the cash for one)

A single piston 30 gallon wont typically keep up unless you are just doing panels or smaller parts.

2 - I personally use a Sata Jet RP for solid color base and clear coat and a Iwata LPH-400 for metalics, silvers, and black. These are both roughly 10 years old... So no idea on the new equipment. Tip will depend more on you than anything. Try a few and see what you like. I usually stick with a 2.2 tip for most jobs.

3- Youtube / practice.

TO be honest, I've seen some people with 1500 dollar guns that can't spray for shit and I've also seen some people with a 12.99 harbor freight gun make professionals look like fools so it's really more dependent on you than anything.

Thank you! I will look into it. I was thinking about buying those cheap guns from harbor freight just to start but I wasn't sure yet. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot on the guns just yet. I will invest into the bigger air compressor cause I do mechanic on the side and I've been getting tired of hand tools.
