i can get the 1060 with 3gb ram for 300 less than the 6gb version. should i go for it?

In that case its fine but if you ever go to a more newer/demanding title you'll have issues.
Better off just buying a 1050ti then tbh.

i'd go with the 480x or 580x 8gb model then if its around the same price point.
but the 4gb models still helps since most games want the extra vram when you play at higher settings high/ultra.
