It's about the same of an accomplishment in my opinion. Back then WL+ MQs took 18-24 hours and there were always a bunch of people threatening to reset. You had to be the fastest and HAD to play constantly in order to stay ahead and get the passes you needed.
Now you can casually play over a long period of time and potentially get lucky and reset, but it does take a lot longer to get to WL+.
I think it really balances the accomplishments.
