I like the third idea the best (+10% first level, another +8% second level, ... or something like that).

I have one guess about why nj likes TDs the way it is now: it messes up our plan to complete the catacomb and get a map. Maybe that's why? TDs makes Rogues, Monks and Ninjas more valuable.

I actually like this. TD doesn't mean monsters need to be 200% harder. They are quite rare, screw the map clearing up, etc.

Love Pauls involvement lately! Looking forward to great things

I like pretty much all of the suggestions in this thread about trapdoors. I hope Paul picks his favorite idea here and implements it. Monster stats and levels together as he suggested would be a great change, but I'm good with anything that makes trapdoors more challenging (i.e. fun) :)

I hate locking "decent item potential" away behind more difficulty. This persuades new people from trying to upgrade stuff. The current "core" of the game are all seriously strong players who will have no problem taking advantage of a TD difficulty system, but it's off limits to a new player

I love the straight up diminishing returns on trapdoors, maxing out at some point of course.

Agreed :) While the increased difficulty of TDs is great for players who have either been playing for years or were willing to put enormous amounts of FG into their gear, it really reduces the possibility a new player will be able to take advantage of it while looking for gear at the start.

New players with bad gear can barely kill regular mobs let alone td mobs. They already can't go down trapdoors so making trapdoors more of a challenge and rewarding for people who actually stick around and play the game sounds great.

me too!

really, i just want some way that there is actually a decent chance to drop good gear, get mutables, get freakin whites even.

as the game stands, it is just a mind numbing grind to find EPS, then an insanely low chance to roll anything 40+, and then lottery odds to roll stats higher then Tier one on that same odds. it really isnt conducive to recruiting either new or Old base. but something like this would be a good start.

If we could have the lowest tier items start dropping off as you got higher like someone had said previously it would fix alot of the issues this game has. It would also alleviate the burden casters have in that they currently need to have damn near a full inventory of trash items for the shrine in order to regen because the items are too low.
