The precedent has been set. He's already committed at least 4 separate chemical weapons attacks since 2013, which the UN chemical weapons team said there was a lot of evidence for.

Israel has nothing to gain from gassing children, their missile strikes in Syria have been on nuclear facilities and Iranian strongholds, not rebels.

I'm not saying they're responsible for the attack, but they certainly can gain from an American intervention in Syria, which might be the result of these attacks in the end.

the syrian army has already declared itself victorious in ghouta, thousands of islamist scum (jaysh al islam jihadists, western propaganda calls them "rebels") have surrendered and are actually allowed to leave, but hey lets drop some poison gas in there for no reason at all to trigger the worlds wrath

When is the last time Assad was losing? The timing is interesting considering Trump a short time ago talked about leaving Syria. I agree it's suspicious... it just doesn't make any strategic sense for Assad to do it.

That said, if we accept the Russian/Syrian/Infowars narrative that these attacks are all false flags... they don't seem to be effective. Obama refused to intervene militarily to fight Assad, Trump lobbed a few missiles at an empty airfield, and I don't think he's going to pull a Lindsey Graham now and destroy Assad's airforce.

Just for fun, who do you think is committing these false flags? The US backed rebels?

Assad isn't attempting to stop the suffering. He barrel bombed hospitals, used chemical weapons, etc.

The Syrian conflict started when Assad used his army to attack peaceful protests in Damascus. He commanded his troops to fire on unarmed peaceful demonstrators, drawing first blood.

This would be his baseline behavior. This would just be a continuation of an ongoing pattern of behavior. It would be more strange if he stopped committing war crimes.

And even if he has "won" in the sense that his throne is safe and he is going nowhere as dictator of Syria, he still hasn't been able to seal the deal. He has to be getting desperate to end this...his friends won't be covering his war crimes for much longer.

He will end up in The Hague. But it won't be until he ceases being useful to Russia.
