Does the "shaper shock mod" mean that I have a 6% chance to shock my enemies in every hit I make?

For example reave with multistrike are hitting like 20 times in 2 seconds. That pretty much guarantees a shock effect on bosses? Am I thinking right, or is there a hidden cooldown or something?

/Regards.

Works as any chance to shock, no cooldown, but shocking effectivnes is based on damage you've dealt compared to target maximum life.

From wiki:

"Increased damage from shock is capped at 50% at 10% of the target's maximum life dealt by Lightning damage, scaling down to 0% at no damage. Hits below the minimum threshold of 1% effect are discarded, effectively requiring a hit of 0.2% enemy maximum life."

So your multiple hits with small damage won't apply shock if A ) they don't roll in that 6% chance and B ) don't deal enough damage to shock.

From 3.1, I think, Elementalist and Ascendant ascendancies guarante minimum shock effectivness of 20% and 10% respectively, so if you use those, you would shock with at least 1 lightning damage dealt no matter what target life is.

So shock is basicly useless on a physical build if I got you right? :) It requires alot of lightning damage to be useful?

Yes, if you try to apply shock with attacks, but there are other ways...

For physical builds you may reliably shock using Vessel of Vinktar or what most players use Vaal Lightning Trap - causes shocked ground and 15% more damage multiplier.

another option is shaper stat stick and amulet with %phys as extra lightning

What I'm doing for my current phys attack crit build is running hatred and wrath with 2 wrath property Watcher's Eye (phys as lightning + increased crit strike chance).
Wrath watcher's eye are cheaper than hatred ones and helm enchant was cheaper as well
