That's a good thing. Only things left really are possible trouble with bnet servers or whacky installation of D2?

Did you install D2 on your SSD?

/e I assume you're playing on USWest? If so, do any other folks in channel, seem to have a similar delay when joining a game?

Oh, I see you're on East, same question though. Do other in channel complain of 5 second delay times when joining a game?

not sure about that. i downloaded the game client from bnet and followed the steps. did it twice since i reformatted to see if that would solve it and nothing. how would i check? i know it installed to folder Program Files (x86) instead of Program Files

edit: i live on west coast, but play on east coast. i expected some added ping from that, but it really feels like it's my computer :(

no, it's just me. and it's been this way for a month or so. people in and out of games like it's nothing, and i have to leave before baal died to make it to ng lmao

Try to port-forward 6112.

Ok that would be your SSD.

OK, I see you're on East, go to channel and ask a few other folks if they also have a 5 second or so delay when trying to join a game.

It doesn't sound like it's a problem with Windows or the Bnet servers or the game install.

It sounds like it might be a router setting, or maybe your ISP. I dunno. Did you check the battle.net troubleshooting bad connection crap?
Or check the bnet forums?

Sounds more like a router issue than OS to me.
I would make sure port 6112 is open. Some packes may be hence why it stales and lags.

I know I can google, but this might be easier instead of trying to sift through bullshit. how do I "open port 6112"?

yes i tried all the connection tips they have there

also, I think worth mentioning, is that it seems to be longer loads when a lot of things are done in game. like if I do chaos and kill diablo while baal runner is getting to throne, I have a longer load when exiting the game. loading time for entering game is always the same but the exit is what gets longer and longer.

also when I get all wps from someone, which requires a lot of in and out of portals and towns and shit, when I exit the game once done, diablo crashes. and that's every time I get all wps from someone.

This is a third-party plug-in that is designed for making d2 work better on more modern machines. It's even recommended by blizzard employees as it doesn't violate any ToS.
