...and the US Army is restricted by the Posse Comitatus Act. Nothing in your previous post alters that.

/e The Posse Comitatus Act is to protect the US citizens from the Army, Air Force etc. Not the borders or where Federal Law is involved.

sounds decent for the time being, these soldiers are much more useful at the border than in syria or afghanistan

does not change the fact that "the wall" is not the solution and trump should rather invest into thousands of special border police units and modern equipment for mobile surveillance

National guard is under control of state governors I'm pretty sure. Army reserves are federally controlled.

During boot camp we made fun of National Guard people by calling them sandbaggers. The reservist where Weekend Warriors. Lol

Either way, its still part of the Department of Defense in some way. Coast Guard even though they are homeland security, they still need some order to do something from the Department of Defense.

Texas governor could send his national guard to the border today.

But that is handling federal business with an individual state's resources.

USCG is Dept. of Transportation DOT, until a declaration of war, then they immediately fall under the DOD.
