Bit of backstory: Jeremy Corbyn won the 2015 leadership contest of the Labour Party in the UK after being a massive underdog, running on a platform of hard left socialism which he has been a lifelong devotee to and that galvanised youth support for him across the country. Since then however, he has consistently been accused of ignoring the rise of anti-semitism in the Labour Party, usually hidden under the pretext of disliking Israel and their policies. Corbyn has shared platforms with numerous anti-semites over the years. The ex mayor of London, hard leftie Ken Livingstone was suspended from the labour party after disparaging remarks about Jews a while back. Multiple labour councillors have been suspended or expelled and even a member of parliament. Still, many more have gone unpunished and critics have argued that Corbyn and the Labour Party haven't done enough to tackle anti-semitism.

Just a few days ago, a facebook post by Corbyn on a group was leaked from 2012, over his response to an alleged anti-semitic mural that depicted several wealthy Jews playing Monopoly, with the board resting on the bowed, naked backs of workers:

Quote
In response to the artist’s Facebook post about the image being removed, Mr Corbyn wrote: “Why?...You are in good company. Rockerfeller destroyed Diego Viera’s mural because it includes a picture of Lenin."

Today hundreds of Jews and activists have staged a protest in London outside the British Houses of Parliament to protest Labour's failure to deal with anti-semitism.

His response to the controversy:

Quote
The Labour leader said last week that he “sincerely regrets” not looking “more closely” at the mural, which he admitted was “deeply disturbing and antisemitic”.

He added: “I am opposed to the production of antisemitic material of any kind, and the defence of free speech cannot be used as a justification for the promotion of antisemitism in any form.”

Freedom of expression should be preserved regardless of whether it's anti-semitic or not, but that's not why I made this thread. I made this thread because I believe it's becoming more and more apparent that anti-semitism among the left wing is growing like a cancer, masquerading as a contempt for Israel. If you equate Zionism with Jews, or that Jews must condemn Israel in every tweet, or that a Jewish conspiracy controls the media/world/banks, you're an anti-semite. Caring about the plight of the Palestinian people or the necessity of a two state solution is not anti-semitism, but see above points.

Tough to find examples of this 'antisemitism' though really. There was that one MP who was suspended for saying 'Zionist Jews are a disgrace to humanity'.But that's not antisemitic - it's anti-Zionist which is not necessarily the same thing. Even this mural is not necessarily antisemitic. You'd have to ask the artist. Just because the Rothschilds happen to be Jewish that doesn't mean criticising them is antisemitism.

If it's 'more and more apparent' then I'd just like to see some genuine examples of antisemitism being a widespread problem in the left.
To me it just looks like there have been a couple of antisemitic comments made by mp's who were suspended and Zionists have jumped on it to denegrate their main critics in the UK.

From Corbyn's lips today -
Quote
"Nevertheless, comparing Israel or the actions of Israeli governments to the Nazis, attributing criticisms of Israel to Jewish characteristics or to Jewish people in general and using abusive phraseology about supporters of Israel such as 'Zio' all constitute aspects of contemporary anti-Semitism."

Calling supporters of Israel's expansionism and oppression of palestinians 'Zionists' is antisemitic, Corbyn has been forced to say. Comparing the actions of Israeli gvt to that of the Nazis is antisemitic too apparently.

He's being pressured into reducing criticisms of the Israeli state from people who view any criticism of Israel as antisemitic.

"Some of the older white Jewish folk in the local community had an issue with me portraying their beloved #Rothschild or #Warburg etr as the demons they are".

Let's start listening to concerns that Jews are having about rising anti-semitism instead of dismissing it as a non-issue and sweeping it under the rug.

Seems to me to be directed at their beloved Rothschild.

I'm totally willing to listen to complaints about actual anti-semitism. Portraying some people who happen to be Jews as demons is not necessarily antisemitic. Especially if those people are billionaires who have made their money exploiting the people. Their lineage is irrelevant in that context except that Jews take offense to other Jews being criticised because they read it as antisemitic.

We can't ban criticism of people who happen to be Jewish or the Israeli state under the guise of 'fighting antisemitism'. It's nonsense.

Still waiting on some actual examples of antisemitism. Show me a Labour MP who is a holocaust denier. Show me a Labour MP saying that Jews created ISIS. These are the accusations being made and I haven't seen any examples of it let alone enough to suggest that it is a 'widespread issue within the Labour party'. Some people on a facebook group in support of the Palestinian cause saying despicable shit about Jews does not make the Labour party antisemitic.

There may well be a problem with antisemitism in Labour. I don't know. Corbyn has certainly been made to feel like he must apologise for it. But I haven't seen the evidence and that's all I'm asking for - because it's surprisingly difficult to find via google. Lots of examples of people complaining about how labour are antisemitic. Very few examples of actual antisemitism among labour MPs and the one that I did manage to find was just some random labour supporter wearing a labour badge.
