So I feel like my post time is really long (10-15 seconds, on both cold start or reboot), but after I post it only takes like 5-10 seconds to finish booting.
I don't run into any actual problems, just seems weird that it takes longer to actually post than to finish a boot, and even open a couple applications.
According to task manager, my last BIOS time is ~10 seconds.
Just wondering if there is a simple fix to reduce the post time for faster overall time from the when I hit power button to when desktop loads. Boot priority is set properly.

Assume you updated bios? if so its common since the newer code are usually longer.
If not then updating it will make it even longer usually and theres nothing you can really do to aid it.
can turn on fast boot and disable start up checks it "may" help.

So this is just a general thing with all newer mobos then? It didn't start recently, it'd been like this since I first setup the PC.
And fast boot doesn't really make much of a difference, it just get's rid of the 1 second delay on post screen to press buttons for UEFI, Boot menu, etc.

I wouldn't say all newer ones,
But I would say a close to half lower grade boards always had this issue. (longer post/boot times)
I've noticed it more when updating older bios's then stock ones though, and the reasoning is more code/more checks on post.

wifes pc went from like 5 - 12 second post when I updated her bios for example. (sandy bridge)

I would bet that part of it is the Spectre and Meltdown microcode patches also.

Might wanna check the RAM speed as well. The Ryzen CPUs for example only support 2666Mhz. Try setting your RAM at that speed and see if it makes a difference.
