I just think we let too much great possibilities sit on the shelf and too much content is owned by people who make no use of it.
Back in the day the public domain was a thriving industry supporting a huge pool of artists, these days it is pretty much exactly the same content because almost anything made in the last 5 decades is owned by some one.
If blizzard wants to hold the rights to diablo and they can show that they are actively working on diablo then sure they can keep the rights.
If they get bought out by EA and ea sits on the copyright for 8 years without even looking like they are thinking about using the ip it should enter the public domain where it will be able to be put to use.
