Love the show obviously, and definitely a GG episode...

BUT

Episodes like this serve as a reminder why HxH 2011 will always and forever be king. They weren't afraid to have the protag follow a reasonable progression.

Gon lost. A lot. It was understood he had the potential to end up as the most powerful, but was just too young and experienced. So he had to take his lumps training, and there were many foes he just wasn't far enough along for. The one single time he 'won' by basically just being granted another level of power by the writers, it literally cost him everything.
