Republicans will flip flop on ANY matter including states rights if they feel the left are making use of it.
In the end republicans stand for nothing.

I wasn't under the impression that states have the right to pick and choose who is a legal citizen and who is not.

Section 9

The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

Looks like Sessions is correct. What California is doing is "now" (since 1808) allowed to be prohibited by Congress according to Section 9 of the Constitution.

California governor says Trump administration waging war against state

Quote
“Immigration law is the province of the federal government,” Sessions said. “There is no nullification. There is no secession. Federal law is the supreme law of the land.”
“I would invite any doubters to go to Gettysburg,” he added. “This matter has been settled.”
The Union army’s victory at Gettysburg in 1863 is often described as the turning point of the Civil War, in which the South declared for states’ rights and tried to secede from the United States.

Except for his stance on legalized marijuana, I'm kind of getting to like Sessions.

California population: 39.25 million
Rest of US population: 283.85 million.

I think Cali is gonna lose. ^^

Don't bitch and moan when they search in your basement in your attic.

You must be trying to get an American edition of the Diary of Anne Frank made.

When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

We have a federalist system of government because the founders understood the importance of states being able to experiment in human liberty and freedom. They saw the new nation as an incubator for free thought and progressive ideas.

In California, we love our immigrants. They bolster the economy, they grow and harvest the food that feeds most of the country, they build our roads and bridges and homes, and they go to our world-class universities and become doctors, scientists, engineers, and inventors.

Just because you prefer Virginia or Tennessee or Ohio to be a certain way doesn't mean your preferences should override the will of the people of California.

If you are OK with an authoritarian central government kicking down doors to enforce its laws upon the many states, then you are unwittingly supporting future action taken by a despot from any political party. If a Republican despot kicks doors in to arrest "illegal" humans, then a Democratic president can use the precedent set by the authoritarian Republican to kick down doors and confiscate "illegal" guns. It's a slippery slope and you should seriously reconsider your anti-American opinion on this matter.

Pretty speech. What California is doing is illegal, as per the constitution.
