Anyone planning to run? 847 cars last year, bigger this year, waypoint based chaos with little to no actual rules and the winner is just whoever's car is most "Gambler" (Last year it was a dude on a bike he finished building the day before or something)


Takes place the weekend of the 13th, then one in my state in August

There are dozens of Sub-Gamblers now in many states

Basically, show up and drive what you brought, no registration, no fees (except for camping)

$500 cars (or not, whatever) 500 miles (give or take), 1 weekend

me and the boys have thought about doing it, but it seems kinda circle jerky now

847 is too many people to want to deal with

and in all reality i dont even care to race, id just want to thrash and its been getting mellowed out because theres so many people doing it now

They split it up into segments, so you can choose your path (and difficulty)

Plus, its definitely NOT a race, it's so incredibly casual that even any "time trial" stations are mostly "here's your start, someone at the end will give you the end, you do the math, and it really doesn't matter, GO!"

People are encouraged not to follow the most direct route and even forge their own path to the waypoints, and people break down along the way lol

Washington is currently about 100 cars

the "not a race" racing bothers me.

Just picked up 4 winter tires with probably 80% tread on 4 stock alloys (same as I have on my truck already) for $160

Gonna pull the studs out and use them offroad for the Gambler on my chase vehicle so I don't run the risk of jacking up my nice Michellin Defender LTX's that cost a LOT more
Plus, cheap offroad traction, if not a long life out of the winter tires

my friend helped out last year. he said the parties were not that great

Im going for the road trip and cheap car thrashing with friends, its not about the party for me, it's about the trip

Picked up the car today, 2000 Subie forester for $400, running and driving in pretty decent shape, new timing and fan belts, good tires, crazy price even with the leaking head

We already have a 2nd motor with the high flow heads out for porting, polishing, and testing and then we will marry the 2 to get a good working vehicle

Also got wheels and tires for it, set of 4 nearly new winter tires on universal 5 lug steelies for $100 and some fireworks...good deal

why are you going to bother with porting polishing and such?

dosent make much sense to me honestly

seems like time and effort could be used better elsewhere

Like ujoints so you can play violin on the gear selector while you got it in the ketchup
