is he literally the worst GM in the league right now?

Can the Montreal Canadiens stop with they french GM bullshit and hire someone with expertise?

He traded the only player with a personality the Montreal Canadiens has had in the last 15 years as he was entering his prime for an older defense who's wayy past his prime

He gave 10 millions $ to a princess Goaltender who's had a 2-year prime chopped by an injury and his now not even in the top 5 goalies in the league

Lets not talk about the Andrew Shaw trade or the letgo of Radulov(who's now at 54 points in 61 games), or acquiring Drroouuuin in exchange for one of the best defensive prospect in the league(but oh it's fine the kid is from le Quebec  )

Why does he still have a fuckin job? He should at least quit acknowledging his failure

also, Pacioretty IS the worst captain they had in history, and Weber will be the second worst(because it's obvious this "great silent leader" will be chosen captain next)

is this board still infested with habs rats or have they all abandonned this awful organization

The habs owner owns a beer company yet they have the most expensive beer in the NHL  (and its pretty mediocre), they are literally laughing at their fans on a daily basis

Bergevin does not kno da wae.

I’m old enough to have been present for the last parade down rue Stanley and have been a life long fan since, and in the ups and downs, contention plausible teams and what we have now there’s one reality to this team that flat out sucks.

All the pieces WERE THERE with just a few additions being welcome and needed. Patches being named captain was the beginning of the end however - and thats not a stab simply at leadership. Patches is our version of Toronto’s (Pits now) Phil Kessel. A capable scorer and among the elite at his position - yet needs a solid support line to produce because he’s incapable of actually producing the results himself. So let’s go hypothetical here

The things that have been needed the most and visibly so for a number of years have been depth in defence (mature and not just in the system) a solid number one center and consistent defence

Subban and Price both matured well and hit incredible numbers at the same time, surrounded by a team that by the numbers had no business being in the standings they were at. Shots allowed were through the roof, and chances taken on shot were terrible.

First mistake came when they decided to put chucky as a center. At first, by fluke or by luck it worked out great. But it immediately showed holes on the wing that would leave he defence scrambling to keep holes patched. Markov miraculously kept together and relatively injury free but he and Subban were not getting along. Two opposing personalities with play styles that don’t suit.

Bargainbin mode engaged; suddenly they start bringing in scrappy minute crunching grinders - and something even more fluky happens. They acquire Des Louis. A player that at every point of his career fought to hold a spot in the roster with the nucks (let’s be real 11 nucks were beast mode) and somehow he just starts producing and doing fantastic with the team.

The holes had been patched with bandaids that had no buisness working yet somehow did

But it all comes down to the money. Right?

Subban the personality and face of the hand (against their wishes) gets signed big, price is locked in a bridge deal that will inevitably garner a huge contract, Patches is “voted captain by his team” and we’re told we will get some more character players to “toughen” up the team. Again 11-13 were dump and chase years and bargainbin isn’t one for setting the standard.

This offseasons handling of acquiring Drouin, was optimistic and actually a fantastic acquisition IF ONLY THEY FUCKING KEPT RADULOV AS WELL.

The whole point of that acquisition was wasted when he played a game of chicken with radulov and Markov and told them “only have enough for one of you” and let them both walk. Markov isn’t elite, he isn’t a huge producer but man did he crunch time and slow the opposition. Sound position, sound judgment - much like plekanec.

A line with Drouin Patches Radulov, Would leave them a solid second scoring line and some grinders on the bottom - but the holes in defence would have shown right away.

The Webber Subban trade was the proverbial blow of wind on the house of straw that just would never bare the fruit they hoped it would.

Given the state of affairs right now, there’s only two things that can be done and that’s tear down the team piece by piece for prospects, picks and assets or tear down the management/ownership and bring that passion back to les habitants

Boy I miss those two

I miss the triple low five, i miss the show, the entertainment we had
No matter if it was a loss or a win it was fun to watch

Idk what they tried to do but they lost me completely
Even last year wasnt so bad with radulov, the emotion and the drive he had got me hooked up now were left with the most boring hockey ive ever watched
